BRIAN WALLS CAPS OFF CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WITH A THUNDER ON THE FARM VICTORY

Hanover, PA (9/29/18) - Two weeks ago, Brian Walls clinched the 2018 Trail-Way Speedway Precise Racing Products Street Stock track championship. Tonight’s Thunder on the Farm Street Stock victory was the cherry on top of the sundae.

“It feels really good to win especially in this car two years in a row,” Walls said in victory lane. “I wish we would’ve had this car figured out sooner but my uncle Mike, when it comes to setting these cars up, you’re not going to find a better person.”

Because of a complete format overhaul for Thunder on the Farm, lineups were set by time trials. Walls took advantage of the new format, set quick time, and drew an inversion of 2 for the A-main, placing himself on the outside of Marshall McMullen for the 25-lap feature race.

McMullen jumped to an early lead but by the fourth lap, Walls had pulled side-by-side with the leader, drag racing him down the backstretch. Walls completed the pass coming to the fifth lap and never looked back.

The field was brought back together following a caution brought out by Jimmy Combs after making contact with Jasen Geesaman’s #818. On the next restart, Sam Gallagher was able to maneuver around McMullen for the runner up spot. Another caution, this time for Zach Myers’ smoking Street Stock, gave Gallagher a shot at Walls for the win. Unfortunately for the rest of the field, Walls was on another level. Gallagher was able to hold off McMullen as the two finished second and third, respectively.

“Not being cocky, but I knew if I didn’t mess up he wasn’t going to get by me,” Walls said.  “This car is really, really good now, and if I didn’t mess up, no one was going to pass me.”

Completing the top five was Ryan Smith and Jamie Zentmyer. Hard charger Dalton Myers started 18th and finished 9th.

Matt Chronister and Kyle Rohrbaugh put on a show for the 20-lap Limited Stock feature race, Saturday night at Trail-Way Speedway.

Time trials saw Robbie Carroll set quick time, but an inversion of four put Carroll behind Zach Baxter, Rohrbaugh and Chronister for the start of the A-main.

Rohrbaugh quickly took over the top spot but Chronister was never far behind. As the two approached lapped cars on the sixth lap, Chronister split Rohrbaugh and a lapped car coming out of turn two, taking over the lead on the seventh lap.

“When the track’s sticky like this you can put down power,” Chronister said, “and it made for an exciting race. Starting third behind Kyle on the pole and Robbie beside me, I didn’t expect to be here, honestly.”

Chronister checked out on the rest of the field, finishing 4.888 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Rohrbaugh. Carroll finished third followed by Matt Worley and Shannon Weaver, who completed the top five. Hard charger, Jason Minter started 17th and finished 8th.

Ricky Weaver Jr. logged 128 laps in his #21 Honda Enduro car. Two time trial laps, six Limited Stock B-main laps, 20 Limited Stock A-main laps and 100 Enduro feature laps. Following a seventh place finish in the Limited Stock A-main, Weaver outlasted a field of 18 stock cars to win the 100-lap Enduro event.

Matt Chronister jumped to an early race lead but a broken axle ended his night, handing  the lead to Weaver. Weaver continued for another 97 laps, lapping the entire field on his way to taking the checkered flag in the first Enduro race in the history of Thunder on the Farm.

Brian Sebold, Roy Denike, Doug Smith and Matt Worley completed the top five.

Chelsea Weaver dominated the 10-lap Powder Puff feature race. For the first time in several years, the ladies raced the full ⅓ mile oval racetrack. Weaver’s experience with the Limited Stocks proved vital to the driver from Littlestown as she led all 10 laps, taking the checkered flag ahead of Beckie Carroll and Mandi Denike.
